“Given the disruption to transport and the safety risks arising, most particularly in relation to the ability to get home safely before blizzard like conditions hit Munster and Leinster, all schools, third level institutions, colleges and centres of further education in red areas will be closed tomorrow and Friday.” Gonzaga College will follow this direction from the National Emergency Coordination Group. Following a review of weather conditions and an inspection of the site this morning please be advised that the College will be closed today, Wednesday 28th February. No classes or co-curricular activities will take place and all students and staff are advised to remain at home today.
Three Gonzaga teams played in the All-Ireland Schools indoors Championships in the National Sports Campus in Blanchardstown on Friday 23rd February. Our Junior team put in their best performance of the day to win their final 7-4 against Colaiste Choilm Ultimate and bring home the gold for the first time. We were delighted to host the second annual Great Reads Award ceremony in the Theatre on Friday 9th February. We welcomed readers from other schools as well as several of the shortlisted authors. Well done to Osgar Ó hOisín (Class of 2015), who has been selected for the Irish Davis Cup team against Denmark. This is a new look Irish Davis Cup team with four players making their Davis Cup debut for Ireland. Osgar was the winner of the Senior Tennis Cup in 2015. Osgar made his Davis Cup debut against Denmark in a doubles match on Saturday 3 Feb 2018. He played doubles with Sam Bothwell against Freddie Nielsen & Thomas Kromann.The match was won by the Danes 6 – 4, 6 – 4.
