Well done to Finn Cleary, who represented Ireland this year at the RS Feva European Championships in Portland, Dorset in August. He and Tim Norwood came first in the Eastern, Midlands, third in the Irish Nationals and fourth in the Silver fleet at the Europeans. And congratulations to Tom Higgins who finished seventh overall and second at U17 at the Laser Radial Youth World Championships in Kiel, and to Jack Fahy who finished 30th overall.
World Meeting of Families AMDG The visit of Pope Francis to Dublin during the summer presented a rare opportunity to volunteer at the Papal Mass in the Phoenix Park. There were plenty of tired faces as a small group of volunteers gathered in Gonzaga at 5am on the morning of the Mass. A quick taxi ride through the pouring rain brought us right to the Phoenix Park. From there, we sought shelter from the elements in the now legendary safe-haven known only as ‘Communion Chapel 15
Gonzaga’s own Jack Barry and Arthur Henry were involved in the Leinster U18’s team that came out victorious in this year’s interprovincial championship. Jack being chosen to captain the side was also an added bonus, a first for the college. The championship took place over a 10 day period in the University of Limerick at the end of August 2018.
