Transition Year 2020/2021 Dates

The dates for the four weeks of social outreach and work experience for next year are now confirmed. They are as follows: Social Outreach 1: October 19th - 23rd Work Experience 1: November 23rd - 27th Social Outreach 2: January 18th - 22nd Work Experience 2: February 22nd - 26th All other relevant dates will be given out at the TY Parent Information Evening on March 10th. Looking forward to seeing all 3rd year parents then.

Malawi Clean Energy Stoves Appeal

This Lent, all five Irish Jesuit Secondary Schools are supporting the Irish Jesuit Missions Office's Lenten ' Malawi Clean Energy Stoves' campaign which focuses on ecology and climate change. All money raised will go towards improving lives and the environment through the adoption of fuel-efficient cooking stoves in rural Malawi, where almost 90% of the population have no access to electricity. The stoves use far less fuel than traditional open fires and they will help to prevent the rapid deforestation which is devastating the country. TY Geography Trip to Iceland

The CALL 2020

The CALL Gala Concert, which concluded CALL Week 2020, took place on Saturday 8th February. It featured music, drama, comedy and debate, celebrating the extraordinary achievements in the Arts of Gonzaga students both Past and Present. Congratulations to Cormac Donnelly, Cormac Hannon, Seán Radcliffe and Henry Li (5th year) who have all qualified for the National Final of this year's All Ireland Linguistics Olympiad. 1036 students from across the country competed in Round 1. The top 100 will compete in the National Final on March 11 in DCU. Cormac Donnelly is ranked number 1.

Classics Awards

Very well done to the following students who were presented with Classics Association of Ireland Medals at a ceremony in UCD last week: Fiachra O'Farrell (Class of 2019) was awarded the CAI President’s Medal for Leaving Certificate Latin. Malachi Hannon (Class of 2019) was awarded the CAI President’s Medal for Leaving Certificate Ancient Greek. Liam O'Flanagan (Class of 2022) was awarded the Jack Henderson Medal for the highest overall mark for Ancient Greek, Classical Studies or Latin in the Junior Certificate. Gonzaga Model United Nations delegates represented the school this weekend at ROCKMUN in Blackrock College. Well done to Rohan Devereux and Jonathan Kelly, who won Distinguished Delegate awards for Turkey and Spain.
