Thanks to everyone who took part in Christmas Dress Up day today. All money raised will go to the Peter McVerry Trust. Today, to mark the end of the year, we planted a new oak tree on our school grounds. This tree was presented to our school by Easy Treesie in association with Crann-Trees for Ireland, as part of the Plant-For-The-Planet initiative, where the aim is for 1 million school students to plant 1 million trees in Ireland by 2023. Transition Year students are currently selling Gonzaga College 2021 Calendars (€10) in aid of the Irish Cancer Society and Walled Garden Apple Juice (€5) in aid of Jigsaw (a Youth Mental Health organisation). Both of these lovely items will be available across both lunch breaks in the Dining Hall tomorrow, on Monday and at the morning breaks on Tuesday. Make sure to ask your son to pick you up some! Tomorrow morning, Transition Year students will be selling Walled Garden Apple Juice, Gonzaga face masks, Gonzaga 2021 Calendars and some greeting cards made by one of the Jesuits living on campus. This small TY Christmas Fair will take place from 10am to 12pm and will be on a socially distanced outdoor collection basis at the main doors of the school. Please remember your masks! The annual Sleep Out for the Peter McVerry Trust will go ahead on Friday 11 December. This year it will take place at home - in students' gardens/yards/driveways etc. The goals remain the same as with all other years: To raise awareness of the homelessness problem in Ireland To experience a night sleeping outside To fundraise for an essential charity We have set a target of €50 per student this year.
