The annual Transition Year Sleep Out for the Peter McVerry Trust will take place on Friday 19 November. The students will be sleeping outside as a fundraising and awareness building event for the work that the Trust does for homelessness nationwide. We are very aware of how lucky we are and want to give back to those less fortunate than us. Our goal is to raise €7,500 as a group. Thank you for your support! Donations can be made online here.

The U19 Basketball team played their first match for over two years today against CBS Synge Street in St Catherine’s Community Sports Centre. Wearing our new kit for the first time, the team secured a well-earned 44-24 victory. Well done to all the players and to coaches Myles Ryan and Patrick Kelly Bowen (both Class of 2019). All First Year students are encouraged to take part in the 2021 MS Readathon, which runs for the month of November. The aim of the initiative is to encourage reading for pleasure while also raising money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Gordon Carberry, our Chef Manager, entered the Chef Ireland Competition 2021 organised by Catex Hospitality Exhibition. This competition is held every two years in the RDS. Congratulations to Gordon who received a silver medal in the first round on Tuesday. He then went on to complete on the final day and received a gold medal and was announced the overall winner of the competition.
*Update 1 November 2021* Stan O’Beirne is the winner of the Top Security Frank Maher inter-school national music competition 2021. He, along with the five other finalists, was selected from across Ireland to perform live in the final on Friday 29 October in The Mill Theatre, Dundrum.
