Congratulations to Ben Lynch in 4C who has been selected for the Dublin GAA Minor Hurling Panel 2022. He played in his first game for Dublin this weekend against Wexford. Ben is a member of Kilmacud Crokes GAA club.


Daffodil Day 2022

Senior Cup Semi Final

Author Visit: Robert Grant
Today in the Library 1C and 1D met with Robert Grant, author of the book The Philosophy Resistance Squad. Robert introduced the students to philosophy and then engaged them in lively discussions about whether technology is good or bad, and whether human life is more valuable than animal life. Ember Group meet Bishop McGuckian

French Debating
Commiserations to the French Debating team of Henry Li, Trevor Bolger, Liam Ó Laoide and Rohan Devereux who lost out narrowly to St Leo’s College, Carlow in last night's national final of the Alliance Française Joutes Oratoires French debating competition. Golf News
The Senior Golf team - Andrew Fraser, Sam Inglis, Stephen McMahon, Aaron Hillery-Nolan, and Michael Foley - represented the College in the recent Leinster Schools qualifying competition in Woodenbridge GC, Co. Wicklow. Playing in often torrential rain and thereafter, very wet fairways and greens, the boys performed as well as could be expected. Leinster Schools Team Racing Championships
Congratulations to our sailing team who won the Leinster Schools Team Racing Championships in Dún Laoghaire at the weekend. Ember Group at Novena of Grace
On Friday, some members of our Ember Group attended one of the Novena of Grace Masses in Gardiner St Church. While there they met Fr Charlie Davy, a former Captain of Gonzaga College, and Bertie Ahern, former Taoiseach. The Novena has been held in Gardiner St from 4th - 12th March every year since 1832. It is held for the nine days leading up to the anniversary of the canonisation of St Francis Xavier and St Ignatius Loyola. This year is extra special because it is the 400th

AILO 2022
The national final of the All-Ireland Linguistics Olympiad was held in DCU on Wednesday. Congratulations to the nine Gonzaga students who qualified to take part: Jacques Murphy, Henry Li, Seán Radcliffe, MacDara Hickey, Cormac Hannon, Bill Brennan, Conall Mooney, Leo Estevez Neill, and Eoghan Mac Muiris. Senior Cup Semi Final

Alexandra College Play 'When They Go Low'
Well done to the four Fifth Year students - Ben Delaney, John Linehan, Eoin MacNulty, and Eoin Sadlier - who took part in Alexandra College Senior DramSoc's production of the play ‘When They Go Low’ by Natalie Mitchell this week. This play explores everyday sexism, feminism, consent and the changing face of teenage sexuality in an online world. During the Ignatian Year, an important date, 12th March 2022, marks the 400th anniversary of the canonization of St Ignatius. World Book Day 2022
To mark World Book Day yesterday, 1st, 2nd and TY students got a chance to Drop Everything and Read for 20 minutes yesterday morning. Students were also given book tokens which can be used to buy specially-produced World Book Day books from any bookshop. (Students who were sitting exams this week will be given their book tokens next week). Applied Maths Contest
The Gonzaga A team of Rohan Devereux, Liam Ó Laoide and Mark Moloney won the South Dublin Regional Applied Maths contest in Oatlands last night. The Gonzaga B team of Trevor Bolger, Alex Madden and Thomas Murphy came third, just behind High School in second. The Gonzaga C team of Oisín Kirwan, Nicholas O’Neill and Henry Geary also finished very strongly. Well done to the lads on an outstanding performance. Irish Olympiad of Experimental Science
*Update 04.03.2022* Joe was one of six to be chosen to represent Ireland in the European Olympiad of Experimental Sciences. This will be taking place in the Czech Republic in May. More details here. Congratulations to Joe O'Grady (4D) who won the silver medal in the Biology category in the first Irish Olympiad of Experimental Science 2021/22. The competition is open to all Transition Year and Fifth Year students in Ireland.


JRS Europe Fundraising for Ukraine
