Natural History Society

In November 2010 the Gonzaga Natural History Society was founded.  The purpose of this fledgling society is to offer students and staff the opportunity to understand, enjoy, and enhance the natural environment of the college and to encourage a greater appreciation of the wonder and beauty of the created world.

 

Among proposed projects are:

  • A comprehensive tree survey.

  • A census of bird and other wildlife.

  • Bird feeding during winter.

  • The encouragement of bird nesting in spring.

  • The development of a natural and sustainable environment, rich in native plants, shrubs, and trees.

  • The development of a natural and sustainable environment, rich in native insect, bird and animal life.

  • The development of practical skills such as: gardening; bee-keeping; plant, animal, and bird identification.
