First Year Heroes Retreat

We were delighted to be able to run the first ever ‘Ignatian Heroes Retreat’ for First Years from Monday 26 to Friday 30 April 2021. The retreat was inspired by the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius and under the guiding theme of ‘Love in Action’ was adjusted to the needs of First Year students. The boys reflected on their own gifts and talents, strengths and weaknesses through meditation and journalling, but also by discovering one inspiring saint, mystic or social justice champion. Working in small groups and led by either a prefect, teacher or Faber Companion, in a team effort the students created beautiful posters, which were presented towards the end of the retreat. Thanks to the good weather there was also plenty of opportunity for games, fun and bonding outdoors. Last, but not least, a big thank you to the R.E. Department, the Prefect Team, Faber Companions, Pat Corkery SJ, Fr Myles O’Reilly SJ and the school management whose support was essential to make each day so successful.
