1306 students participated in Round 1 of this year’s All Ireland Linguistics Olympiad. The top 100 students nationally qualify to take part in Round 2. This year five of the seven Gonzaga students who participated will take part in Round 2 in DIT on March 24. Well done to our four students who competed at the Leinster schools cross country in santry on Wednesday. Jack Byrne, senior 7000m 32nd place Michael Mallin (30th) and Noah Maguire (12th), junior 3000m Charlie Lyons, 22nd, minor 2000m. Very well done to the TY students, Ms O'Brien and Mr Earley on a fantastic concert on Feb 15th. The programme included performances from a variety of Gonzaga choirs and music groups as well as special guests the Blown Identity and the Ranelagh Singers. Fantastic chance to be a Leinster mascot as they take on Cardiff Blues on 24th March. The 15th Annual Gonzaga Chess Classic took place on the weekend of January 27th – 29th and was won by GM Normunds Miezis who flew in for the tournament from Riga, Latvia. Read all about the event here.
