Catholic Schools Week 2020 will be celebrated from Sunday 26 January to Sunday 2 February 2020 on the theme ‘Living in Harmony With God’s Creation’. All this week students will be reflecting on and exploring the theme of living in harmony through discussion, group work, creative tasks, experiential activities and attending a lecture in Belvedere College SJ on the theme of reconciliation.
Mild and pleasant weather provided the perfect conditions for the 2020 East Leinster Cross Country Championships to take place yesterday. 18 boys from First to Fifth Year represented Gonzaga at Avondale House in County Wicklow. Eoghan Mac Muiris won the Junior B race (2,000m). In a very competitive Senior field and a challenging 5k course Patrick Hickey ran to 10th place and qualified for the Leinster Championship. Very well done to our 6th Year team of Matthew McInerney, Jack Lenihan, Ciarán O'Sullivan and Conor O'Brien, who last night won the main History Teachers' Associaion of Ireland trophy, the Cú Chulainn Cup, for Gonzaga for the first time since 2007. Our 5th Year team of Patrick Hickey, Joe Prendergast, Jonathan Kelly and Emmet McGlade also performed excellently: they came 4th overall and were the leading 5th Year team.
Well done to our students who participated in this year's BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition: - Luke Rickard (6th Year): 'Learning to Communicate and Collaborate: Discovering optimal cooperative multiplayer non-zero-sum game strategies and environments using deep learning'. This project came second in the Senior Technology section. - Alex McDonnell and Emmet O'Boyle (4th Year): 'What's the 'Carbon Cost'?' This project was awarded a commendation ribbon. - Toby Burns, J
The Gonzaga College Orchestra is celebrating a decade of musical excellence and, as part of the celebrations, we are inviting past pupils who were members of the orchestra to join in the fun!
