We were delighted to welcome Arnd Drossel from 'My Promise Mother Earth' to our school yesterday and to hear about his project of walking in a steel mesh ball from Paderborn in Germany all the way to Glasgow for the UN Climate Change Conference COP26. In late August, Charlie Riley from 1D (front row, in cap) won the Junior Lawn Tennis Championship of Ireland (U12) at Fitzwilliam. He was then asked to represent Ireland in the Junior Four Nations tennis tournament which was held in Corby in the UK from 24-26 September. Ireland had two players for both the boys and girls sections in the under 12, under 14 and 18 age groups and all the players played singles and doubles matches against players from England, Scotland and Wales.
On Friday we attended a Prayer Service in Blackrock College as part of the 'Lourdes at Home 2021' virtual pilgrimage, which was held during the time when the usual Dublin Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes would usually happen. It was a beautiful service of carefully chosen readings and prayers, and a candle was lit for every school and youth group that would usually travel to Lourdes with the Diocese. Well done to all the Gonzaga TY students who were part of the Ranelagh Gaels U16 boys football team that won Division 8 County Football League. This is a historic first boys title for the club.

Congratulations to Gonzaga College SJ students Hugo McLaughlin (5th year) and Davy Colbert (6th year) who were selected to play for Leinster Rugby v Ulster Rugby on Saturday in the Schools Under 18 League. Both scored fantastic tries securing a win for the Leinster Rugby Under 18's team and a final score of 12 - 45! 👏 We are looking forward to their next game against Munster Rugby this Saturday. 🙌
