National Survey on Parent and Student Charter

The National Parents' Council post primary (NPCpp) wishes to consult with parents on the Parent and Student Charter Bill 2016 which will be introduced by the Department of Education and Skills. See here for more details. There is a short survey to be answered which can be accessed here.

TY Rugby Win

Well done to the TY Rugby team, led by captain Frank O'Grady, who became Transition Year League Division 1 champions for the second year in a row after a 26-19 win vs Belvedere in the final yesterday in Newbridge. Many thanks to coaches Ken Murray and Ross Mc Keever.

AILO Results

Well done to all of the Gonzaga participants in this year’s All Ireland Linguistics Olympiad. Some 4000 students across the country signed up for the challenge, 1306 took part in round one, 100 qualified for the National Final. Padraig Sheehy achieved 5th place nationally and will represent Ireland at the International Olympiad in July. Ronan Kirby finished in 35th place. In the U16 category, Cormac Donnelly achieved 6th place nationally, Henry Li 15th place, and Rory Collins 19th. Again well done to all and good luck to Padraig for the International Olympiad.

Table Quiz 28th March

A table quiz in aid of Habitat for Humanity will be held in The Goat Bar & Grill (Upstairs), Clonskeagh, on Tuesday 28th March at 7.45 pm. Tables of four €40. A raffle will be held on the night. All proceeds to the Zambia trip.

Seachtain na Gaeilge 2017

Eagrófar réimse leathan imeachtaí sa scoil an tseachtain seo chun Seachtain na Gaeilge a cheiliúradh. Tá leagan Gaeilge den chlár ar fáil anseo agus leagan Béarla anseo. New Trees for National Tree Week

To mark National Tree Week (March 5th - 12th 2017) the Green Schools Committee organised tree planting and nature walks in the school grounds. On Thursday, a group of very energetic volunteers, mainly from First Year, planted a mixture of native trees near the entrance to the school with the help of Claire Lyons. And on Friday two first year classes had guided walks around the grounds with Mark McDowell. Thanks very much to our two guests and to all the boys who took part. See photos here.

Rugby Update

Thanks and well done to the whole SCT squad and their coaches for all the hard work they put in to bring the school further than ever before in the Senior Cup. They lost 34-8 to Blackrock in Donnybrook yesterday in the semi-final. See photos of the SCT campaign here. And hard luck to the Juniors who lost 8-15 to Blackrock in the Cup quarter-final on 28th Feb. See photos of their Cup campaign here. Both sides put up brave and determined performances and we are all very proud of them.

Apple Juice Project Wins Award

Well done to the TY Walled Garden Apple Juice team who received the Kids For Wish Kids award for ‘Highest Funds Raised’ for their organic and eco-friendly apple juice mini company, raising an incredible €2,325 in total. All apples were grown in the orchard on the school grounds, before being hand-picked, pressed and bottled. Mark Earley, TY Coordinator was delighted with the award. "This year is the first time we have entered into the Kids for Wish Kids Schools Entrepreneurship Awards and the TY students involved learned a huge amount about fundraising and being an entrepreneur.
