At the end of the last school year we were awarded our seventh Green Flag, on the theme of Global Citizenship: Energy. We attended an online awards ceremony earlier this week, and today we formally presented the flag to the Headmaster. We are now beginning work on our next theme: Global Citizenship: Marine Environment, while also continuing work on previous themes such as Litter and Waste, Travel, and Biodiversity.
What a wonderful afternoon yesterday for Gonzaga College SJ to be back in Donnybrook Stadium after so long at the JCT quarter finals against Terenure College. The atmosphere in the crowd was electric!

At 7:30am on Tuesday 5 October, 45 Leaving Cert. History students and three teachers went on the biennial trip to Belfast. We visited Stormont Parliament, had a guided tour of the loyalist Shankill Road area and went on a tour of Crumlin Road Gaol. In the afternoon we had a guided tour of Clifton Street Cemetery (the resting place of notable Protestant republicans from the 1798 Rebellion), and of the republican Falls Road area. Congratulations to all the students who were successful in the Young Classicist Awards 2021: Award: "Palma Lingua Antiqua". Sean Radcliffe for his project "The Battle of Salamis". He demonstrated a detailed knowledge of Ancient Greek far beyond his years. The judges were extremely impressed. Award: "Junior Classicist Dionysus Award". Gold: Owen Taylor for his project "The Colosseum". This project combined Owen's artistic talents, detailed research and even some written Latin
This morning we planted an elm tree on our school grounds to mark the end of the Season of Creation 2021. Trees were planted in Jesuit gardens all across Ireland today to make our Province greener. 6th Year students of Biology spent yesterday in Airfield Estate, Dundrum, carrying out an ecology field study.
